Ladies and gentlemen, good morning. It’s my great honor to be here and give you a short speech. Today my topic is “The Stones, Groping to Growth”.

Before I start my speech, I want to ask you all: have you ever heard the story “Little Horse Crossing the River”

The little horse doesn’t know the depth of the water and does not dare to cross the river. So he asks around, everybody gives him different answers according to their own experience. It makes him even more scared of the river than before. After a long struggle, he finally takes the courage to try it himself, and realizes that the river is neither as shallow as the cow said nor as deep as the little squirrel said.

I also experienced a confusing period like the little horse when …. I have always been keen to experience everything in life, and hence I believe I’m of versatile tastes. This kind of cleverness leads me to think that I can be good at many things. To me, all the things I want to try is like rivers to cross. With just a few steps into the water, I can enjoy all the fun freely, jumping and running in the water; moving forward, the water gets higher, it is still full of fun and excitement; yet when I’m approaching the middle of the river, I find myself surrounded by water, and I can’t see where I can go. I start to get scared and confused and don't know what to do.

Then one day, I saw the words “new media”. It’s just like a huge stone holding me up out of the water, so I can have a broader view around. “I can do it,” “I want to do it,” again, I have a determined mind of what I want to do and where I want to go, since I can see that writing would be my footing stone out of the water. these kinds of knowledge I have seen about knowing myself are coming in like water, which let me suddenly realize that my fish bait is 2

writing. But when I realized that only with the core competitiveness of the individual can stand up, I know I don't have it at all. However, having a direction does not mean that my problem has been solved. Although I wrote a lot of articles, I didn’t dare to submit, for fear that others would refuse me because I didn’t write well enough. I started to doubt myself again. I don't believe in myself and I am not sure if I can do it well. Then again, I found myself lost in the vast water. At this time, the little horse story came into my mind. I told myself: “just do it, what could be the worst” So, I summed up the lessons of my failure, and improved my methods step by step. And finally, my first passage was used recently. Actually, on the path of growth, we are all crossing the rivert there are a lot of rivers to cross. Whenever you come across the difficult one, don’t be afraid, don’t turn around, or try to drown yourself in it, just step into it and carefully feel for the stones that can hold you up.
