Sevenhugs HugOne

Do you want to improve the quality of your sleep? Sevenhugs has created HugOne that tracks different sleep patterns to help families consistently rest better. There are dozens of devices and tools devoted to monitoring the sleep. But, HugOne is the world’s first family smart home sleep system, which integrates a calculation rule for sleep patterns of children and adults.

HugOne is a well-designed product, full of a sense of science and technology. It connects to a number of smaller sensors called “minihugs”, which are placed on the edge of each bed. They monitor the sleep patterns and other data coming from the person sleeping in that bed. The data arethen sent to an app on the smartphone.

● The benefits of HugOne include:

* Having a smart alarm clock on the app as HugOne learns your sleep cycle and automatically sets and sounds to when the best moment in your sleep cycle is identified.

* Monitoring temperature and humidity in your bedroom as well as indoor air quality for the main living space.

* Linking with smart lamps and thermostats, allowing users to fall asleep with sunset light and preferred nighttime temperatures, and wake up to sunrise light and preferred daytime temperatures.

* Ensuring safety from electronic transmissions when you sleep-when the minihug senses a presence in bed, it shuts off its electronic transmissions and starts recording sleep data and sending them to the app.

● The following are selected from customers’ comments:

I prefer HugOne, since it’s convenient to use. I simply place the minihug in the corner of my bed under the sheet and it goes to work monitoring my sleep cycle. It’s really good.

—Robert Compton

● HugOne available for purchase includes:

I think HugOne is a humanized product. It’s shareable, and I’ve connected eight minihugs to the HugOne base in my house. All my family members think highly of it.

—Chris Hanawalt

HugOne will provide maximum protection for your sleep. If you want to get more detailed information, please call the sellers at 1-800-576-19 or visitdevicesforbettersleep.com.

There is an old Chinese proverb that states “One generation plants the trees; another gets the shade,” and this is how it should be with mothers and daughters. The relationship between a mother and a daughter is sometimes confusing. The relationship can be similar to friendship. However, the mother and daughter relationship has unique characteristics that distinguish it from a friendship. These characteristics include responsibilities and unconditional love, whichprecludemothers and daughters from being best friends.

Marina, 27 years old, said, “I love spending time with my mom, but I wouldn’t consider her my best friend. Best friends don’t pay for your wedding. Best friends don’t remind you how they carried you in their body and gave you life! Best friends don’t tell you how wise they are because they have been alive at least 20 years longer than you.” This doesn’t mean that the mother and daughter relationship can’t be very close and satisfying. This generation of mothers and adult daughters has a lot in common, which increases the likelihood of shared companionship. Mothers and daughters have always shared the common experience of being homemakers, responsible for maintaining(保持) and passing on family values and traditions. Today contemporary mothers and

daughters also share the experience of work and technology, which may bring them even closer together.

Best friends may ormay not continue to be best friends, but for better or worse; the mother and daughter relationship is permanent, even if for some unfortunate reason they aren’t speaking. Sometimes this is not an equal relationship. Daughters don’t always feel responsible for their mother’s emotional well-being. But mothers never stop being mothers, which includes frequently wanting to protect their daughters and often feeling responsible for their happiness. The mother and daughter relationship is a relationship that is not replaceable by any other. Mothers always “trump(胜过)” friends.

4. What does the underlined word “preclude” in paragraph 1 probably mean?

A. differ. B. benefit. C. prevent. D. change. 5. What can we learn from what Marina said? A. Best friends will not spend money on her wedding. B. Best friends will not remind her of important issues in life. C. Her mother is wiser on account of her age. D. Her mother is definitely not her best friend.

6. Why can a mother and a daughter build a even closer relationship today? A. Because they share advanced technology with each other. B. Because they work together to support the whole family. C. Because they experience the same values and traditions. D. Because they have common experience in life and work. 7. What is the text mainly about?

A. How to build a good mother and daughter relationship. B. A mother-daughter relationship is irreplaceable. C. Mothers want to be daughters’ friends. D. A daughter is a mother’s best friend.

Six Neanderthals who lived in what is now France were eaten by their fellow Neanderthals some 100,000 years ago, according to fearful evidence of the cannibalistic (食人的) event discovered by scientists in a cave in the 1990s. Now, researchersmay have figured out why the Neanderthals, including two children, became victims of cannibalism: Global warming.

While previous studies have examined Neanderthal remains to find proof of cannibalistic behavior, this is the

first study to offer clues as to what may have led Neanderthals to become cannibals. Scientists found that rapid changes in local ecosystems as the planet warmed may have wiped out the animal species that Neanderthals ate, forcing them to look elsewhere to fill their stomachs.

The researchers examined a layer of sediment (沉积物) in a cave known as Baume Moula-Guercy, in southeastern France. In that layer, charcoal (碳) and animal bones were so well-preserved that scientists could reconstruct an environmental picture representing 120,000 to 130,000 years ago. They discovered that the climate in the area was likely even warmer than it is today, and that the change from a cold, dry climate to a warmer one happened quickly. “Maybe within a few generations”, study co-author Emmanuel said. As the animals that once populated the landscape disappeared, some Neanderthals ate what they could find — their neighbors.

Cannibalism is by no means unique to Neanderthals, and has been practiced by humans and their s “from the early Palaeolithic to theBronze Age and beyond,” the study authors reported. The behavior adopted by the starving Neanderthals in the Baume Moula-Guercy should therefore not be viewed as “a mark of bestiality (兽性) or sub-humanity”, but as an emergency adaptation to a period of severe environmental stress, according to the study.

8. What does the study mainly focus on? A. The social behavior of Neanderthals.

B. The reason for cannibalism among Neanderthals. C. The climate change in southeasternFrance. D. The influence of global warming on ancient animals.

9. What can possibly be used to describe the climate in southeasternFrance120,000 to 130,000 years ago? A. It was no warmer than it is today. B. It was first warm while later cold and dry.

C. Its change was mild and went through quite a long process. D. Its change is a chief factor contributing to cannibalism. 10. Which of the following might the study authors agree with? A. Neanderthals’ cannibalism showed their bestiality.

B. Cannibalism was actually a measure the Neanderthals had to adopt to survive. C. Neanderthals’ cannibalism guaranteed their rule over other tribes. D. Only Neanderthals were found to have cannibalism in human history. 11. Where can you most possibly find this passage?

A. In a science journal. B. In a travel brochure. C. In a history book. D. In a geography book.

An unmanned Chinese spacecraft left the earth on a trip to the planet Mars on Thursday. The launch(发射)marks the start of one of China's most important space explorations. China's national space agency launched the spacecraft called Tianwen-1 fromthe Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Center on Hainan Island.

The name Tianwen means “Questions to Heaven” in Chinese. The spacecraft took off on China's largest carrier rocket, the Long March 5, and about 36 minutes later, the spacecraft, including an orbiter(轨道飞行器)and a rover(漫游车),was sent into the Earth-Mars orbit. It is expected to reach the orbit of the red planet next February. Tianwen-1 will finish three scientific goals—orbiting the red planet, landing on the Mars and sending a rover to the landing site.

Tianwen-1 carries several scientific instruments to observe the planet's atmosphere and surface. It will do a series of scientific researches on the planet's soil, geological structure, environment, atmosphere and water. Besides its daily work of exploring the surface of Mars for 90 days, it will also report back to the earth about its experiences on the red planet, which is millions of miles away. According to experts, discovering signs of life will be its first and most important scientific goal.

Tianwen-1's successful landing will make China the second nation to place a spacecraft on Mars. The United States has landed eight vehicles on Mars since 1976. China will be the first to successfully orbit, land and place a vehicle in the same mission. This is China's first independent mission to Mars. The task in 2011 failed when a Russian rocket carrying a Chinese orbiter had problems after launch, and was unable to escape the Earth orbit. Last year, China's Chang e-4 spacecraft became the first to make a landing on the far side of the moon. 12. When will Tianwen-1 enter the orbit of Mars? A. 36 minutes later. B. Next Thursday. C. In 90 days. D. Next February.

13. What is the main task of Tianwen-1 according to experts? A. Orbiting the Mars. B. Landing on the Mars.

C. Discovering signs of life. D. Sending a rover to the landing site. 14. Which of the following statements is mentioned in the text? A. Tianwen-1 is the second vehicle landed on the Mars. B. The United States is the first to land vehicles on the Mars.

C. Russia helped China place Tianwen-1 on the Mars. D. Chang,e-4 was the first to make a landing on the moon. 15. Where can you find this article?

A. In a newspaper. B. In a diary. C. In a sci-fi novel. D. In a guide book. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)

To better file my papers, I bought the hole punch (打孔器). It's simply but useful. I don't think that necessary to punch a row of holes on one side, but I only punch holes at the corner of each piece of paper. Then I sort out every subject and different kind of papers. I find it's quite efficient when they review before exams. Not only can the hole punch improve on my learning efficiency but also makes me form the habit of tidying my room. I understand the importance for classifying things, so I set aside some time to clean my room every day. Filing papers is necessary to study, and I advise you have a try. 第二节书面表达(满分25分)

52.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

At noon on a brilliant Tuesday in March, my 12-year-old son Kai and I are a mile and a half into a four-day, 27-mile walk through the Grand Canyon—his first backpacking trip — when he asks: “Are we almost to camp?”

Um, no. Camp, at Hermit Creek, is seven miles and nearly 2,500 feet below, which will take us several more hours. We’re going down a poorly maintained path off the canyon, across which we can see many of the canyon’s layers. This is on display in cliffs hundreds of feet tall, a reminder of how far we have to go.

We are here largely because of a birthday note Kai wrote me two years ago in which he declared, “You used to be a wild 10-year-old like me and now you’re a wild 53-year-old. We can do so many things together! I am excited for when I’m old enough for the Grand Canyon!”

There are, I suppose, dads who could resist that, just as there are fathers who would plan an experience-appropriate trip for their sons. I am neither, so here we are. Never mind that; aside from simply being 12, Kai has done almost nothing to physically prepare for this. Or that I haven’t backpacked for 13 years.

We head on past twisty trees and brush. Soon the view broadens, and the layers grow deeper, down to the shadowy, 1.8 billion-year-old Vishnu, a panorama(全景) that leaves Kai excited. “This place is amazing,” he says.

Nightfall in the canyon can be magical. Darkness surrounds us, pressed by cool air. We navigate a narrow path to the stream and, hearing the sound of a waterfall, lie down to take in the stars. Twice I suggest we turn in. “Not yet,” Kai says. “This is too unbelievable.”

注意:1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

The last day’s plan is to travel the three miles to the Colorado River, which is the most challenging.
